Swimming Pool Construction Valencia (Spain) | Design & Install
Pool Construction and Installation in Valencia, Javea, Moraira and the Costa Blanca. From design to handover — everything managed by one person, including remote coordination.
We design, build and install swimming pools in Valencia, Javea, Moraira and the rest of the Costa Blanca. From design to handover, one person manages everything, including remote coordination if you are not in Spain while the work goes on.
A well-built pool defines a villa's summer for decades. That is why we start with your plot, not with a catalogue. We design each pool to fit the terrain, the sun orientation and the way you will actually use it, from a flat-bottom family pool to an infinity edge looking out to the sea.
The first decision shapes the price, the timeline and the next thirty years: should your pool be gunite or fibreglass? That is where this page starts.

Gunite or fibreglass: which pool suits your plot
Fibreglass suits most plots: it is cheaper, faster to install and easier to maintain, as long as the shape you want exists as a mould and a crane can reach the plot. Gunite suits difficult plots, irregular shapes, infinity edges and depths no mould offers. Most pool companies only work with one system and defend it. We build both, so we can be straight with you.
Gunite (concrete) pools
A gunite pool is built on site: a reinforced shell of sprayed concrete over steel mesh. It is the most resilient technique for this climate.
The work takes weeks rather than days, with machinery and wet trades on your plot. It costs more, and the finish needs renewing from time to time. In return, you get any shape and any depth, an infinity edge, and a pool that adapts to a difficult plot.
Fibreglass pools
A fibreglass pool is a single shell, moulded from layers of glass fibre bonded with polyester resin. It arrives finished and is lowered in by crane, so placing it takes days. It is cheaper and faster, and maintenance is lower because the surface is smooth and non-porous. A well-made fibreglass pool lasts more than 25 to 30 years. It has two limits: you choose from the shapes and sizes that exist as moulds, and the crane needs access.
Fibreglass pool, polyester pool and prefabricated pool are three names for the same product. If you are comparing quotes and see all three terms, you are not comparing different things. What does change is the quality of the laminate: the number of layers, their thickness and the outer gelcoat. That is the difference between a pool that looks the same at thirty years and one that fades at ten, and it is the first thing we check before recommending a model.
The usual sizes run from 3×2 m for a patio or small plot to the 6×3 m family pool, which is the one we install most because it fits almost anywhere. Next comes 7×3.5 m as a middle step, then 8×4 m and above, which is a villa pool and the first size where you can swim proper lengths. If you are torn between two sizes, the deciding factor is access, not budget. A pool that cannot get into the plot is not an option.
Which one to choose, in one rule
If the shape you want exists in fibreglass and the crane can get in, fibreglass wins almost every time. Gunite makes sense when the plot is difficult, when the shape is irregular by design, or when you want an infinity edge or a depth that no mould offers.
If you are not sure, send us a photo of the plot and the access, and we will tell you which one. We build both, so we have no reason to push you either way.
What your pool build includes
Your pool build includes design and setting out, the shell, finishes, coping and deck, filtration and heating, and lighting and automation. We handle the full project, with no opaque subcontracting, and hand the pool over full, balanced and running.
Design and setting out. Site survey, structural calculation, and integration with the porch, the garden and landscaping and the plant rooms.
Reinforced gunite shell. Sprayed concrete over steel mesh, for pools built on site. With fibreglass the shell arrives finished: we excavate, prepare the base, place it by crane, level it and backfill around it.
Finishes. Natural stone, Venetian glass mosaic, microcement or liner. You pick the colour and texture from physical samples, not from a screen.
Coping and deck. Bateig stone or non-slip natural stone edges. No sharp lips, no risks.
Filtration and heating. Low-consumption pumps, reversible heat pumps and thermal covers, for more months in the water every year.
Lighting and automation. RGBW LED lighting, phone control, and automatic chlorine and pH dosing.
We deliver the pool full, balanced and running, with a user manual and a written guarantee on materials and workmanship. If you like, we add a monthly maintenance contract for the first year.
How much a swimming pool costs in Valencia
A swimming pool in Valencia costs from about €12,000 for a small liner pool and around €14,000 for an installed 6×3 m fibreglass pool, to €18,000–€25,000 for a standard gunite skimmer pool and from €30,000 for an infinity pool. Hardly anyone in this sector publishes prices. We do, because going in blind is what makes a quote look expensive without you knowing why.
In more detail:
Fibreglass pool, 6×3 m, installed and running: around €14,000. The shell alone, not installed, ranges from about €4,200 for a 3×2 m patio pool to about €11,000 for a 6×3 m family pool. Installation adds roughly 25% to the cost of the shell.
Liner pool, small to medium size: from about €12,000.
Gunite skimmer pool, standard size: about €18,000 to €25,000.
Infinity (overflow) pool with high-end equipment: from about €30,000.
The difference between fibreglass and gunite is not the material but the time. What takes days of crane work and connections with fibreglass takes weeks of excavation, steelwork, concrete, waterproofing and finishing with gunite. What you pay for is labour.
The installation price includes excavation, base preparation, placing, backfilling, hydraulic connections, the pump and filtration system, filling and start-up. Charged separately: licence and municipal fees, coping and surround paving, lighting, heating, cover and fencing. If one quote is cheaper than another, it is almost always because something from the first list has moved to the second. That is the first thing to check when you compare.
Once the pool is built, running costs are usually between €50 and €150 a month, and maintenance averages between €600 and €1,800 a year.
What moves the price
Four site factors move the price: crane access, the ground, the slope of the plot and the distance to water and power. Two design choices move it even more: an infinity edge and the lighting.
Crane access matters most: driving the machine right up to the hole is not the same as lifting from the street over the house with a long boom. Then comes the ground, because rock makes the excavation more expensive. A sloping plot may need a retaining wall. And the distance to water and power is paid for in metres of trench.
Two choices push the budget up more than people expect. An infinity edge costs between 60% and 100% more to install than a skimmer system, and about 30% more to run. Perimeter LED lighting adds 5% to 10% to the total. We explain both, together with orientation, shape and interior finish, in the five pool decisions you make in the first month and live with for 30 years.
That is why we do not give a price over the phone without seeing the plot. We would rather give you a fixed quote than a nice number that goes up later.
Do you need a license to build a pool in Valencia?
For an in-ground pool, yes, in practically every municipality in the Comunidad Valenciana. That paperwork is what really sets the calendar. The build takes days or weeks depending on the type, but the license can add weeks more. If you want to swim this summer, the conversation needs to start several months ahead.
We handle the license application for you, and within 48 hours of seeing your project we tell you whether you need a license and which kind. What counts as minor works (obra menor), what needs a major works license (obra mayor) and what each town hall asks for is explained in our guide on building licenses in Valencia and the Costa Blanca: obra mayor or obra menor.
Some pools do not need a major works license, mainly above-ground and removable ones, because there is no excavation. If that is your case, we will tell you: we are not going to sell you work you do not need.
Building your pool while you live abroad
Yes, you can build your pool without being in Spain. One person manages the project from design to handover and is your single point of contact, and you follow the work through daily photo reports from the site. Many of our clients on the Costa Blanca do exactly that, and never have to chase three different trades.
We work in Spanish, English, Dutch or German, whichever you prefer. We visit you with no commitment, assess your villa and prepare a detailed quote in your language, with each item listed separately so you can see exactly what is included and what is not. If you are planning more than a pool, read how to renovate a villa in Spain from abroad without losing control.
Pool builders, not a pool shop
We are builders, so the retaining wall, the foundations, the drainage connection and the surround paving are done in-house instead of subcontracted. We also install any pool, including one you have already bought.
We have been renovating villas for international owners for more than 35 years. Pools are only part of what we do. Above all we work on structures, facades and roofs, and that is why the work a pool company has to subcontract stays in our hands, even when the ground turns out to be poor.
For a company that only installs pools, each of those surprises means another subcontractor and another week lost. For us, it is everyday work on a house.
Already bought your pool? Wherever you bought it, we install it. If you have already ordered a pool from a manufacturer, we take care of the excavation, the crane placement, the backfill, the connections, the start-up and the licence. We only need the measurements, the technical sheet and a look at the plot.
How we work, step by step
We work in six steps: site visit, fixed quote, licence, build, start-up and maintenance handover. The build itself takes 4 to 10 weeks, depending on the type and size of the pool.
First, we visit the plot. We look at access, ground type, slope, orientation and distance to the mains. That visit tells us whether the pool you have in mind is viable there, and whether gunite or fibreglass suits you better.
Next, we prepare a fixed quote with separate items.
We apply for the licence while the work is being organised, so no weeks are lost.
Then we build. With fibreglass: excavation, base, crane placement, levelling, backfill and connections. With gunite: excavation, steelwork, gunite, waterproofing and finishing.
We fill the pool, start the filtration system and check that everything works, with you there or on a video call.
Finally, we explain the maintenance: what to do each week, what to do each season, and what you do not need to do, even if someone tries to sell it to you.
Areas we cover
We build and renovate swimming pools across the Comunidad Valenciana. In the Valencia area we work in Bétera, Torrent, Paterna, Gandía, Sagunto and nearby towns, from our base in Godelleta.
On the Costa Blanca and in the Marina Alta we work in Javea, Denia, Moraira, Teulada, Benissa, Calpe, Altea and Alicante.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what people ask most before building a pool in Valencia: price, timing, licence and building from abroad.
Which is cheaper, a gunite pool or a fibreglass pool?
Fibreglass, almost always and by a wide margin. A 6×3 m fibreglass pool installed costs around €14,000, while a standard gunite skimmer pool costs about €18,000 to €25,000. The difference is build time: with fibreglass you pay for a factory-made shell and a few days of work, and with gunite you pay for weeks of labour. Fibreglass is also cheaper to maintain, because the surface is smooth and non-porous.
How long does it take to build a pool in Valencia?
Depending on the type and size, the work takes between 4 and 10 weeks; placing a fibreglass shell itself takes only days. In every case the real timeline is set by the licence, which can take weeks on its own. With a few months' margin you will be swimming by summer. With one month, you will not.
Do I need a licence to build a pool in Valencia?
For an in-ground pool, yes, in practically every municipality. Above-ground and removable pools usually do not, because there is no excavation. We handle the application and tell you within 48 hours which licence your pool needs. More detail in our guide on obra mayor or obra menor in Valencia.
Are you pool manufacturers or installers?
We are builders. We build gunite pools, install fibreglass pools, and also install a pool you have bought yourself. Because we have no catalogue of our own, we have no interest in pushing a particular model. We recommend the one that fits your plot.
Can you install a pool I have already bought?
Yes. We handle the excavation, crane placement, backfill, hydraulic connections, start-up and licence. We only need the measurements, the manufacturer's technical sheet and a look at the access to the plot.
Can you build my pool while I am living abroad?
Yes, and many of our clients do exactly that. One person manages the project, sends you progress photos and is your single contact from design to handover. We work in Spanish, English, Dutch or German.
How long does a fibreglass pool last?
A well-made one lasts more than 25 to 30 years and keeps its strength. The difference lies in the laminate and the gelcoat: a low-end shell starts to fade at around ten years.
